What newcomers to Canada ask for

The first weeks are a list of errands nobody explains. If you have done them once, you can do them for someone else.

  • Arrival meet and greetMeet them at YYZ, YVR or YUL, help with the bags, and ride with them to their door. Driving them yourself is a paid ride: that needs a vehicle-for-hire licence and insurance on file.
  • SIM & phone planA Canadian number on day one, and a plan that doesn’t need a credit history.
  • Bank account setupGo with them to a branch and open a newcomer chequing account — no Canadian credit yet.
  • SIN & health card paperworkService Canada for a SIN, then the provincial health card — OHIP, MSP, AHCIP, RAMQ.

    Newcomers book and pay through YourTrip. You get their details and arrange the rest.

Who we’re looking for

  • You live in a Canadian city and know how things work there — which branch, which form, which bus.
  • You’re friendly, patient and reliable on the day.
  • You remember your own first month here — or you’ve walked someone else through theirs.
  • Speaking a language newcomers speak is a big plus.

The rules

  • No immigration, visa or legal advice unless you’re licensed — an RCIC with the CICC, a lawyer, or a Quebec notary.
  • Customers’ details and documents are only for arranging their booking.
  • Show up when you said you would, and deliver what your listing says.

Questions

Do I have to be a citizen or permanent resident?

No — but you do need to be legally allowed to work in Canada, and to actually live in the city you list. Plenty of our best partners arrived a year or two ago themselves.

Which Canadian cities can I apply from?

Any of them. Demand is heaviest in the Greater Toronto Area and Metro Vancouver, but newcomers land everywhere — apply from the city you know.

Can I help with immigration, visa or study-permit applications?

Only if you are licensed: an RCIC in good standing with the CICC, a Canadian lawyer, or a Quebec notary. Everyone else sticks to the practical settling-in tasks on this page — which is what most newcomers are actually stuck on.

What do partners charge?

You choose the price for each service when you list it, and the customer sees it before they book. Prices are in Canadian dollars.

How do I get paid?

Customers pay upfront through YourTrip in CAD. Once you are approved, we set up your payouts with you directly.

Can I offer services in French?

Yes. List every language you speak in your application — it is one of the first things newcomers filter on.

Is this only for newcomers?
